2026 Brass and Woodwind Program Guide

FINAL 2026 Brass and Woodwind Program Guide 2026 as at 28 July

In addition to the rules specified in the Brass and Woodwind Division Program, competitors, teachers and parents are advised to read the Rules of the Competition 2026 carefully, as well as our most recent Stardom Music Upload Instructions.

2026 Adjudicator

Ian Denbigh

Ian Denbigh is a distinguished Australian trombonist and educator who has been a member of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra since 1987, where he served as Tutti Trombone prior to his recent retirement of this year. He began playing in the Elizabeth Brass Band, growing up in a fourth-generation brass band family under the influence of his father, David Denbigh, and later studied with renowned trombonist Howard Parkinson.
In 1984 he was selected as Principal Trombone of the inaugural Australian Youth Orchestra European Tour. After performing regularly with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and serving as Principal Trombone with the State Opera Orchestra, he was appointed Second Trombone with the State Orchestra of Victoria in 1985 before returning to Adelaide to join the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in 1987. Throughout his career he has also performed on euphonium and bass trumpet, taught trombone and euphonium at the University of Adelaide and numerous South Australian schools and remains an active supporter of the brass band movement as an adjudicator and mentor.
